FULL BIO

BIO

Atlantic Connection (Nathan Hayes) has been carving a path of excellence in the music industry for over two decades. Growing up in the US, he was exposed to the diverse sounds of R&B, jazz, reggae, hip hop and soul, which inspired a career in music. Playing unique beats and electronic rhythms that personally resonated, allowed him to firmly established himself as a DJ on the national circuit early on.

After developing significant skills in production, he formed the drum and bass outfit Basic Operations, who received critical acclaim within a four year span signing to multiple labels, and becoming the first US trio to firmly root themselves in the UK market. In 2006, Nathan Hayes launched Atlantic Connection, quickly establishing himself as a solo artist, dropping releases with CIA, Spearhead, Advanced, Creative Source, and Dispatch. In 2007, he launched his label Westbay Music as a foundation for his own music, as well as creating a platform for a number of key DnB artists including Random Movement, Submorphics, Spectrasoul, and Beta 2. Since then, this DJ and producer has amassed an extensive and well-respected catalogue; becoming a key figurehead in the international bass music scene. Atlantic Connection’s long list of originals, remixes, and bootlegs are eclectic and diverse. Concurrently with his love for DnB, some of his latest productions under the Jamie Prado and PRODBYAC monikers have offered an intriguing blend of bright sliding chords with tropical melodies, house vibes and soulful R&B rhythms—touching on nearly every genre in electronic music’s spectrum.

Atlantic Connection has also released tracks on industry-standard labels such as Fokuz, The North Quarter, Dispatch, V Recordings, Soul Deep, and Co-Lab, to name a few. He has touched down all over the world with his upbeat sounds. With artist support from LTJ Bukem, DJ Marky, Storm, Doc Scott, Grooverider, Craze, Bailey, DJ Flight, Teebee, Fabio, Bryan G and more, you can hear an Atlantic Connection tune on regular rotation in drum and bass DJ sets played around the world. Concurrently with his DnB projects, he began to blur genre lines and produced two ‘future soul’ EPs for 12th Planet’s Smog Records. 2020 saw more new releases from this prolific producer, including the funky DnB collab with T.R.A.C (The Making Of; Need For Mirrors remix), and his “Instrumentals” EP: a mix of soulful downtempo and drum and bass. 2021 has followed with multiple releases on Westbay (“Mercuri,” “Day 18,” “A New Dawn” and “That’s Life”); a single for The North Quarter with Steo “Night and Day” (Quarter to Quarter LP Various Artists); and a vibey EP of DnB rollers on Co-Lab (“El Dorado Part One”).

Atlantic Connection’s signature wash of expertly pitched sonics are the finishing touch of his melodies—pioneering his own style of “Future Soul” which encompasses warm, luscious, atmospheric compositions. Hard at work in the studio or playing internationally, his music has seeped its way into film and television. Signed to Viacom in 2010 as a composer brought him access to other branches of the company including, MTV, VH1, Comedy Central, BET, Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon. His track “Hypem” was the theme song for MTV’s “The Show with Vinny” featuring Armanni Reign. This track gained viral momentum after its placement in “Jersey Shore,” which led to Nathan Hayes and Armanni’s track “Reach” being licensed to the Dance Central 2 video game on Harmonics Music Systems.

Continuing unstoppable forward motion, Nathan Hayes released the mixtape “You & Me,” and subsequently “Tides” has since seen heavy rotation on SiriusXM’s Chill Station, further expanding his global musical footprint. Since then, Nathan’s independent compositions and sound bytes have been heard on 300 unique titles including Netflix, Dreamworks, ESPN, ABC, NBC and Saturday Night Live.

And this superbly talented artist is only just getting warmed up.

Stretching his studio prowess to make various genres harmoniously intersect, Nathan Hayes continues to do what he does best: produce incredibly well-crafted music that has an uncanny ability to connect to the soul as well as the dance floor. Looking ahead, Nathan’s new project will be focusing on producing artists’ sounds to help them gain unique licensing opportunities….keep your ears open for his upcoming label Spaceweight Music!
